i am pullin the carpet outa the k5 right now and have everything out cept the plastic trim that goes around the t-case shifter. i got the center part and boot off already. it looks like there are several 10mm bolts holding it down but there is no way to access them. or am i missing something obvious? thanks for the help.

didjya get the set screws out of the top and bottom (front and rear) of the gear selector deal? the plastic thing, i mean.

im not sure what youre talking about. the center peice that the boot is connected to popped right off.

well, i suspect you got what i'm referring to then. sorry for the crappy explanation. can you take pics? i must not understand what you're talking about. when i did it to a 208, it was really straight forward.

and just for reference its an '88 with an np208 t-case. dunno if that will help. i really would like to get this done tonight and that trim peice around the shifter is the only thing holding me up. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

dangit! if stupid i guess i the 4 screw(2 in front 2 in back) are well camoflaged, specially now that its dark now. thanks colbystevens!

edit - looks like you got it figured out while i was typing up my response.

yeah, i had a 208 in my 83 - it should be the same thing.

i'm wondering now if you are struggling with what i was initially trying to describe because you referred to a "trim piece", so i'll try again. if you're referring to the black plastic piece which is the shape of a very short rectangular box, look at the face of the box which is closest to the fire wall, and there are, if i recall correctly, one or two set screws that go into a mounting bracket underneath the box. these screws are also on the face that is toward the back of the truck.

i pulled my carpet without having to do that. that metal piece bolted to the floor?

i think he's referring to the unit which retains the t-case shifter and tells you which get set you've selected, not the metal brackets that hold that unit to the floor.

just the black plastic trim peice around the shifter. its off now though. thanks guys. will soon be putting in a bunch of sound deadender and replacing all off the jute.
