howdy, I need to reroute the exhaust on DaBurb for front driveshaft clearance. I'm going to keep the stock manifolds but upgrade to a Flowmaster Y & a heated O2. Id like to put a muffler on that is quiet but that yields good flow.

Just doing some brousing the Dynomax VT series looks intriguing. I would not mind a little throats when I'm on the pedal hard but all in all I want quiet.

On my car, I discovered that it's hard to keep a 3" exhaust quiet with a straight-through muffler, but the VT is almost like a stock muffler on the highway. Apparently the lifetime warranty covers rattling and the spring wearing out. I should probably collect on that since mine rattles at cold idle.

Moving parts inside a muffler kind of scare me. It would be cool to have the best of both worlds though... I almost think on a single muffler application I would have enough velocity that it would not rattle.

magnaflow

I'm running 2.5 into a 3" merge with a 3" in/out magnaflow and it's very quiet.

I believe @muddysub added one to his burb to get rid of the drone he was experiencing.

I love your photo bucket album! Less talk & more action than a build thread!

My opinion only. Walker Quietflow SS. Make sure it's for the later R/V applications, when GM started using 3" pipe. Earlier was 2.5" in/2.25" out. A stock motor isn't going to need 3", but that just means you won't have a restriction.

You can't get quieter than OEM, and that's what the Walkers are.

I searched everything I could, and I believe it was Borla who made a muffler that got closest to OEM "volume". There will be enough noise from wind and tires, I'm done with additional noise when I have phone, radio, or passengers I'd rather hear.

I had a Magnaflow on, single 3". Pretty sure it was about 18" long for the body. It was pretty quiet. No catalytic converter. Biggest thing that made it quieter was adding a tailpipe all the way out the back.

Now I'm trying a Flowmaster 50 series big block muffler. They claim it's their quietest muffler. I'm curious to see how it works. It's single 3.5" in and out. It is freaking huge too. I just wanted to try something different.

May be I'll try the Maganaflow. I have one on my Hillman, makes my 250 6cyl sound buff.

Check out Jones Max Flow mufflers they are the exact same as magnaflow but quite a bit cheaper. I had an 18" magnaflow on my blazer before I started my engine swap and it was fairly quiet and sounded good.
I recently put a 22" jones on my Silverado and it is very quiet almost stock ish yet still has a nice deep tone especially when you get on it. MF2589 is the part number. Even the same numbers as magnaflow with an MF instead of a 1 in front. Same as a magnaflow 12589.
Here's a link to all part numbers you can find them cheap online

I plan to use MF2288 or MF2258 on my blazer pretty soon as I finish my 5.3 swap. Both are dual 2.5 inlet with single 3" outlet one is 18" and the other is 22" I'm not sure which one yet but either one will sound great! Try Jones out you won't be disappointed

I had my stock exhaust increased to 3" from y pipe with a magnaflow #12289 24" long muffler and 3" tailpipe running to the backside of the rear wheel, stainless steel from y pipe back. It is pretty quite with a light rumble when I get on it. I'm very pleased with performance and noise level. I don't like the constant noise like a flowmaster 40 series produces. It's all preference to the owners liking.
