The suburban, ‘91 V2500, has Venom Hunter all terrains since they were on it when I bought it, and they are garbage. Loud, one is out of round, and they need to go. The Suburban is used 99% of the time on the highway, and the rest in the pasture pulling a dump trailer so I don’t need agressive tires even though the look cool. It has 275/85R16’s and I’m looking at going to a 265/75 or around there since I have stock steel wheels.
I am putting 12-15k miles a year on it so they need to ride good and last.

What are the suggestions? I need 5 and looking to stay under $1800.

Generals suck.
I replaced my Duratracs w the A/T’s and they feel half flat all the time.

I am running Back Country AT2 on my 1 ton Duramax and getting 75K miles with excellent traction and they ride nice and quiet.

I've run the Coopers on my 2001 Yukon XL with great results. Currently running Falken AT3's on my Ford Ranger (second set) and Dodge 3500 dually. Quiet, nice ride, reasonable, good traction around farm and good tread life.

X3 on the falkens.
I like them better than the BFG KO2s in every aspect.

I see the Falken Wildpeak AT4W is available in 255/85/R16 as well. I'm not a fan of the heavy sidewall tread blocks, I don't need them and I think they look dumb but I've been after a taller skinny tire for a while.

Never owned Falkens. I have a friend that runs them and likes them. Back in the 90,s I ran a couple sets of Cooper Discoverers ATs, after 10k had to be rebalanced and they were noisy. I like my BFG KO2’s. I would add that the 35” KO2’s needed minimal weight to balance. I will admit I just eclipsed 15k on the bfgs. They remain quiet imo.

If you can get the AT3, go that route instead of the AT 4.
The AT 4 sacrifices traction and ride for an extra 5000 or so miles on the warranty.
Not worth it in my opinion

I'm also not going with an E load range anymore, I don't tow enough to justify the ride and extra weight. C or LT will do just fine.

I actually think the terra grapplers are pretty quiet. For what they look like you'd think they'd growl, but they don't.

I ran a set of these 31x10.50’s Kumho Road Venture A/T 51 all terrain tires on a 88 Bronco and they turned out to be very quiet and great traction in the rain - tread life was good too.

I like the taller skinny tires as well.
I ended up with 255/85/17 on my suburban which gave me an extra 1/2" height over the 16" rim.
I got the Mikey Thompson
I love them, they ride smooth quiet and great traction.
And you get the 5 under $1800.
But they don't have this size in 16" rim

The 16” wheel is dying like the 14” for cars.
Do you have some 17" rims?
I had these rims from a used set I bought previously and they were perfect.
8" wide and the right offset to put them in the void where they fit with no rubbing.
