Thought I'd take a Min and remember, ha ha. So I've been a member for a little while now and Before owning a K5, I had a much loved Suburban. I bought it from the Original owner(s). It belonged to a friend of mines' Parents. It was the Family vehicle since new in '81. Lifted in 82 and run with 35's its whole life. It had seen many things in its day. Numerous motors, trannys, etc etc... Including a resto in '96. It was finally retired in 2000 when the old rig had seen its place as just a back up vehicle. I bought it in 2006. By now it had a "Crusader 454 model 350" out of their fishing boat when its mate let go and were replaced with 2 6bt cummins(tweeked). It was also mated to a TCI Maximizer 700r4. Newer 4" lift and new BFG's. Fun Fun truck. Unfortunatly, Last winter it was broad sided by a dump truck while sanding our local Home Depot parking lot. That decided its fate. The damage was more than I wanted to deal with, not to mention the cancer gods were taking the truck over again. This fall was its final season. With the move to Clorado from Mass, I couldnt see bringing this big of a project with me. So, the tires were sold then the axles and so on. The rest went to the crusher. The motor, trans, transfer, and Perfect GM dash pad are all that remain. The plan is to have them live on in my new project, my 91 Jimmy. Heres some pictures of the old girl..

was the problem just the rear quarter panel? Thats not too bad of a repair.

No, as you know being a fellow Masshole... All the cab supports and body crossmembers were shot not to mention the windshield frame, barn doors, both pass side doors, and rust on the right quarter panel due to a previous accident and so on. It was tough to let it go, I just didnt have the funds to do it

Windshield frames usually aren't problematic unless you have leaky visor bolts like me  :doah:

I had a big ol rust hole at the pass side lower corner... leaked lots on my floorboard

Heres some pictures of the old girl

The "old girl" in the white tank top looks like a newer model than the burb. Glad you kept her and got rid of the burb instead. :D
