Could you check this ratio chart and advise how well it would apply to the 6.2?

THANKS!

It applies as far as figuring out what gearing will give you similar overall gearing when changing tire sizes.

The colors for economy, dd, power are off though. Calibrated to a small block I'd suspect.

Thats what I was after...

Whats a good powerband for the 6.2? Ive seen this and that, wondered what the feedback was for the members HERE.

Randy's R&P says 1800-2800rpm. With 1800 being on the eco side and 2800 on the power side I take it.

Also, AFAIK the 6.2 governs at 3600 RPM, correct-o-mondo??

Andrew

PS
I would like to take the info from response here, and re-create the above chart for the 6.2 specifically, is the current project.

In that case you'd probably want to go lower numerically on the gear ratio side of it. LOTS o' diesel Blazers with 3.08's.

Power band...you'd have to ask some of the more knowledgeable folks.

I just put 4.56s in my Jimmy, with a dead stock 6.2. It had 3.08s in it stock.

I have 35" tires I haven't measured them but I am willing to bet they measure more like 33.5.

I don't have a tach so I don't know my rpms but I love the 4.56s

Should put me right around 2400 rpms at 75.

Haven't been out on the highway yet but I wouldn't never go down in ratio.

I think with a stock tire size a 3.73 is the minimum I would go

Max fuel economy occurs at 1800 rpm @ 65 mph. Max 'power' is ~3000 rpm at 65 mph. You'll lose pretty much 1 mpg for every 100 rpm higher than 1800 @ 65 mph.

I'm about 99% sure I told you all of this via pm... :dunno:

I did a little Excel magik, looks like I want 4.56 and either 33" or 35" tires,
OD will be doable with 31" until I can get newer tires (next year I think)

With 31" tires and 3.08 gears, this is what I am doing right now:
rpm = 2169 OD = 1518

With your 35" tire, 4.56 at 75mph, I gustimate your turning 3,379 rpm in DRIVE and if you have OD, turning 2,365 rpm. (Assuming the 35" tires are an actual 34" in diameter)

Yep having the 4.56s is like having a whole nother gear to play with cause it is. With 3.08s 4th was completely worthless.

If I had a 3 speed trans I would probably have put 3.73s in it or possibly 4.10s
