309 is gonna run you $383 right now (I just bought US $ yesterday at 1.24) Sales tax just went down half a point, but combined with the GST it's still 14% ( $53.62)

right there you're at $436.62, and UPS still get's there peice for brokerage.

The stock car parts link showed a 31"x19" aluminum rad for $179. Which rad were you looking at? I wonder if a 31"x19" 2 row aluminum rad would cool the 6.2 as well as the stock rad? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

2 row aluminum radiators will out cool 4 core brass rads all day long from what i've been told. Never any personal experience yet but my uncle says to buy a brass or whatever they are is a waste of money. He has run a lot of them over the years in his race cars and such.
 
Well, in a race car the coolant system needs to be efficient and flow really well I'd imagine. High rpms's and high speed all the time. Tons of airflow through the rad and all.

I just wonder if the AL rads do as well in traffic when there is next to no air flow, or worse yet crawling in the rocks in Moab when it's really hot out..

I guess it all comes down to how quickly the aluminum dissipates the heat compared to the other rads. Like I said I can't speak from experience but all the major manufacturers are going to aluminum rads. How about the competition buggies? What are they running these days? I got a feeling pretty much all the different automotive fields are all going to aluminum but I've never really checked it out.
 
the rad I am looking at has a built in engine oil cooler
I will edit the part number in after I finish unloading my new 1985 4 headlight front clip

the 2 alumi rows are 1"+ each
aluminum is cheap then brass is why everyone is going that route

I may want to add a powersteering cooler in my rad /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I know a couple of guys in Abby that can do it

My aluminum welding isn't bad...as long as it's MIG aluminum. I'm about to take a course on TIG aluminum for work though.

You pick up fenders and a hood yet?

I got a brown hood from a 6.2 with the hood emblem in extremely good shape
I hate the little ornament, need one?
no fenders or inner fenders
plastic grill is so-so
missing one little plastic thing that holds the headlights in, apparently I may be able to use one from my clip
do not know if the 4 headlights work but they are there
wiring harness appears to be in pretty good shape
no hood latch and I either forgot or lost in transit one of the rubber things that go under the hinge on the cowl

gotta flip my steak brb
 
Just as a reference point... Our '94 Suburban has a single row aluminum radiator from the factory. It's the wider version (34.5 inches?) that comes with the towing package. Tranny cooler on one side and engine oil cooler on the other. Even when driving through Texas in July, with the truck loaded down and both a/c units running full blast, the temp gauge never goes above 200 or so. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif It sells for around $350 here in the US.

He ordered the starter and it was delivered the next day. FAST. as far as coolers in the tanks, I have had better luck keeping a tranny cool by bypassing the factory cooler all together. I used a AC condenser for my tranny. Upped the capacity by a couple quarts and you just aint gona find a tranny cooler any bigger then one of them suckers. Plus factory mounting is there. Don't forget to use trans flush if you go this route for whom ever may be reading this. That's just what I did and of course won't work for everybody especiallly if you use your AC condenser for AC. Basically I dropped the trans temp by 20-30 deg. by avoiding the radiator all together. Some have luck going through the rad before or after an external cooler. I wasn't so lucky.

A couple of months ago I used this forum to see if using the condenser would work but I only recieved results like there's too much fluid to push through the pump in the tranny but if it works I'll hook it up. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I'd take the hood emblem thing off your hands if you don't want it. I'm also looking for a hood eventually too. Mine didn't fare so well with me walking all over it doing my windshield frame job. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I may have one of thopse rubber things lying around from a parts truck...I'll have to have a look around the Bat Cave for ya.

Lordco has all those plastic parts for the headlights. At least the one in Kennedy heights does. It's a huge rotating rack with all those hard to find plastic bits...

It has a small dent in the raised portion down the middle, and needs a small repair at the front. Not terrible, I could fix it...

It does not have the hole for the emblem...

my AFCO arrived today
shipped Nov 16 but delayed since tuesday due to the UPS drivers strike, so pretty fast shipping from Indiana.
looks great,
but the lower rad hose connection is angled upwards so I will have to work around that

the rad shipped for $32usd but for some reason the fans were quoted at $35usd to ship until AFTER I paid them.
then they emailed me asking for another $15usd for shipping.

any info on the rubber rad mounts cushions?
