I have had to put my truck on hold the last little while but i am now at the point of getting a new radiator. To save some money i was going to go with the universal sized aluminum units ??? can i make a 31"w X19"H universal unit fit in my blazer without too much custom work? I don't want it to look like a mess.

I am very capable of making clean brackets and so forth but I was hoping others had done this and might help me avoid pitfalls.

Thanks

To save money..... Aluminum.... Will it fit...

Um...
Last i checked a OEM radiator was about 120 bucks...
It's cheaper than aluminum... It's OEM... It'll fit...

I paid 129 for a 4 core radiator... New...

Wow $129. I'm looking at $200 in central California. I have ended up going the stock root but it is hard to find anyone who is either selling the 4 row or a replacement unit that has actual metal tanks, most are selling plastic.... I did find a few good aluminum units in the summit mag but the cost is too high for me right now. Maybe prices went up because Hillary is in town. If she gets in I hope china has alot more money to lend us.

It seems most places want to sell me a 3 row high flow but with a sbc 400 60 over I don't tend to think a missing row is going to help.

Thanks for the input

i spent 120 on an oem 4 core rad, new..its just easier, then again i had to fab mounts anyways...

igot mine at pepboys for a 91 suburban 2500 7.4
alluminum with the plastic tanks but a lifetime warranty so cant beat it for 150.00
i was in the same boat and decided to go this route easier and bolts right in. it was a tall rad though and i had a short so off to pick a part for the upper bracket no big deal, also got new rubbers at the dealer for a 91 also

$292.36 brass and copper 4 core . radiator.com

I guess my zip code makes it more than twice as much?

I received the radiator this morning next day service was great. make sure you check the unit i was told alot of people don't check and it can cause problems. mine was perfect and they are also dropping off plugs for the ports I am not using.

Radiator.com was a good deal.
