Radiator source

Guys, I need to replace my radiator. 89 GMC Jimmy bone stock, 700R4, trans cooler internal to radiator.

I checked Rock Auto, the only Copper/ Brass core w/ brass tanks w/ AC, runs about $293 without shipping and the RockAuto discount.

Any other suggestions? I'd like to stay away from the plastic crap out there.

ANy local radiator shops near you? They should definitely be able to recore it with no problem.

Are you looking for direct replacement?

I got a Northern all aluminum radiator for $140 off ebay. To get the auto tranny cooler its a little more but not much. The downside is you will have to fab some new mounts and get either a fan shroud to fit or electric fans.

I was already running electric fans so that wasnt a problem. If you have to get more parts to make it work it might not be worth with, just a suggestion.

It is my daily driver, so recoring and getting back and forth to work will present some challenges. I might call around though and see if they have one already to go, and give them my core.

Summit Racing and Jegs have some all aluminum radiators that are less costly and will fit most GM trucks....

I have a champion (american eagle) 2row radiator in my 6.2 turbo diesel and no troubles cooling it at all. It's all aluminum and was around 150 shipped. I've had mine almost two years with no issues.

Was that a factory style bolt in? Or was some modification required?

They have a higher failure rate they metal tanks; IE cracking and leaking. It is my understanding the orange anti freeze was developed with some stuff to seal the leaks in the plastic tanks GM started using.
