Some of you may have read my thread last month about needing/wanting a new alum raidator and I appreciate the responses. Since the replacement was a need/want I am going to look at making due with what I have for now, if I can.

I have a small leak in the core and it is about 4" down from the top. I have a bottle of radiator stop-leak (forget the brand) so my question is if it stops the little pinhole leak as it should, do I have anything to worry about in the future with it coating or messin' up the engine block or other components? Should it only be used as a last resort to get home? I kinda view the stop-leak as the green slimey chit you put in a tire with a puncture; yeah it may stop the leak but makes a huge mess of the rest of the tire on the inside when you have a shop do a professional repair.

So, to use the radiator stop leak or not?

I use the bars stop leak, the peletized stuff, on my old farm truck, and when my genius sister blew the head gasket on her 91 camaro (170k mile 305 tbi aint worth a head gasket R+R). It leaves some residue, but i like it, took a while to fix the leak in my trucks radiator, but i really should just put a new one in there, but i more than likely will either redo it this summer (entire truck) or simply move on to another rig, so its a bandaid, but the problem may come back eventually, you never know.

I have always used Alumma seal stop leak for coolant leaks... In a pinch on the trail, a can of pepper will work.
Never had a problem with either fix.
As long as the you do a good flush when the perminat repairs are made.
Only problem with using pepper is. When you pop the radiator cap . It smells so good. It makes you hungry. Yum! Radiator stew. A little salt some pepper and a couple of eggs....
Not only will it stop your leak... Its dinner time:D

I wouldnt use it. Get a tube of this.

Ive used it many times. Had a gash in my radiator about an inch long and mixed this stuff off and gobbed it on there and good as new. Used it to repair pipe on my sprinkler system etc. Great stuff
