Anybody know how I can correctly and safely flush my radiator in the trans cooler without using the pump for the trans?

In the years of tranny's I have blown... it built up junk in it and I wan't to flush out the bad stuff to plumb it correctly.....

i always to 50% of can 1 way then flip lines . ........ then for solid clean out i do a 2nd can the same way .

then i run a universal spin on filter kit with 1/8" temp sender port on my plow truck . and have my trans temp gauge sender in the top of it . i filter before the rad cooler so its showing the hot line from the trans . in my opinion this is what i would watch over pan temp .

Only other way new rad or external cooler . They now offer them with internal temp flow valve for 1/3rd flow until warm then the rest of the cooler opens .

unhook the lines run kooler clean through it then run compressed air through it should do the trick

I always used brake clean and compressed air. DON'T HIT IT WITH 100+ psi! I turn it down, start easy, barely open the nozzle.
Go both directions, not just one.

But then you are still gambling a little that you don't have a small piece come loose later due to vibrations. How big of a gamble? No one knows.

I had one transmission puke pretty badly, and the radiator transmission cooler never killed the replacement using this method before the tank started leaking the following year.

I could bring it to my friends at the dealer and run 20quarts of atf through it heated to flush it but I like to do everything the hard way

Yes new fangled flush machines are nice, and the filters on those are much finer.

Forgot to mention in above post. Be sure to put the filter on the return to trans side.

What if I was planning on putting one on each side :rotfl:
