Just bought an '88 suburban that still has the factory radio. I would like to install an aftermarket, but really don't want to cut up the dash/bezel. Whats the best option on doing this?

Go ahead and order the correct install kit, wiring harness, and antenna adapter.

I'd go through http://www.metraonline.com/ to figure out what you need, then order based on part numbers via ebay or amazon.

Ended up being pretty easy.

Standard din will fit with the right kit.

Enjoy!

Don't think those will fit. And, they need other support components i think. Dont' think the amp is internal.

Yes, that may look a bit better, but an aftermarket one will work a lot better for the price.

If you look for 1.5 din on Crutchfield, there are some....but not worth the cost.

Ok, so the 88-91 are different? That explains why I had to cut my 87 Jimmy to get an aftermarket radio to work. That's good news then. Any pics of aftermarket radios in an 88-91?

Some of those trucks got 1.5-din radios. So a 1-din radio may or may not fit right in.
