i just register for sirius satellite radio. i have a pioneer cd player its a model mosfet 50wx4. on the radio it says xm ready, got the radio second hand, went to see on the pioneer site for information on what it means and couldn,t find the answer.i don,t like wires hanging all over the place so i thinking there might be some way off hooking it up too the radio. currently its working with a radio station i find i get a lot off interfierence.anybody know what is meant by xm ready?

XM READY MEANS THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO USE A XM MODEULE BOX, AND A PIONEER ADAPTER. GO TO CRUTCHFEILD.COM TO GET THOSE ITEMS. BUT AS FAR AS THE XM UNIT YOU HAVE NOW THE WAY YOUR USEING IS THE ONLY WAY IT WORKS

XM satellite radio

IN STOCK

  • Compatible with select Pioneer stereos
  • XM antenna included
$99.99

WORKS.

Are you using a seperate satellite receiver now that transmits via FM signal? If you get a receiver for your Pioneer it will wire directly to your radio but you won't have a removeable satellite tuner anymore. The new sat. receiver will have an id# that will have to be activated in order to receive a signal so you will either have to deactivate the sat. receiver you're using now or add a subscription to be able to use both receivers.
I use the removeable XM receivers so I can play it in the car, at home & work. For the car I have it hard wired using a FM modulator, it still uses a FM signal but doesn't transmit the signal through the air but rather the antenna cable directly to the radio. Something similar to this

They have that type of setup, in a simplified design, readily available for Sirius radios. I use one that simply plugs into my sat radio, then the vehicles antenna connects to it, and it connects to the stereo. Use the Sirius to set the channel and it works perfectly. Never any interference like trying to use an emitter type antenna.
