I just got in 2 rs5000 shocks, pulled them out of the box and they are fully compressed. I extended them by hand and compressed them again by hand with almost no resistance from the shock. Is there a trick to them or did I get 2 bad shocks?
You may have to fully extend and collapse them several times before all the air gets purged out of the valving, and they will work normally..they get aibound lying on their sides on a store shelf for months..
"Normally" might mean they have all their resistance only on the extention stroke, and nearly none while being compressed..since most shocks only dampen rebound, this is how most are valved..other "specialty" racing shocks with varying ratios are different..some have 50/50 valving, which means they are as hard to push in,as they are to extend..other ratios are available too..
