Random slider idea...

Imagine if you will, a slider 72" long, made of 6" .25" wall pipe, cut in quarters length wise ( or one 3' chunk cut and weld for no wastage)
This is roughly the same radius as the lower rocker, so it wouldn't stick much, even with the bottom the body except for a 3/8" x 2" standoff just to slip under the sheet metal to a mount to the frame.

Mount it somewhat close to the body, almost incognito..

Thats one way! The only thing I will say about regular sliders that run the length of the truck....you can use them as a step or use a hilift on them in case you get stuck or need to change a tire.

Like this? Mine is bolted to the pinch weld. I'm sure to the frame would be better but I have saddle tanks so not an option. That said they still do a good job. Landed on them a couple of times. I just wanted to keep the rockers from getting pushed into my door. Worked so far.

I can tell you that mine matched the contour perfectly but it was a chunk of 9 or 10" diameter pipe. No way a 6" would work. I had a 3' plus piece and did it in two sections like you suggested. It's welded to a piece of 1 1/2" x 1/4" flat.

I probably have enough left over from that pipe and could plasma cut the four strips you need if you are interested. Just tape them up in a bundle and UPS out for $10-15.

EDIT: I might be a bit shorter than 3' pipe. Can verify tomorrow.

That's awesome. I tried doing it with 6" pipe. Like has been said wasn't big enough.

A guy I helped had something similar had a metal shop put like 8 bends in a flat piece.

Welded to the rockers like that is plenty stout too. No need for frame braces

The concern I have is about it trying to taco the sheet metal if I span it the full 72" (frame flex)
Probably be okay if I split it. I'm sure the rust under the door won't notice

The rocker under the cab is definitely stronger. I think some minor bracing might be needed for the bed

Lol it wouldn't rot much worse than the rockers normally do. I like this idea! I'm doing a little boatside otherwise I'd probably do this!

We fully welded when we did something similar.

If you don't fully weld you would need to put some sort of sealer

I should pull mine for a pressure wash/checkup. 15 minute deal.
