The blazer did a wierd thing yesterday. I started it to warm it up before leaving the house and it was running rough/sputtering. when i'd gas it, it would pop out the exhaust on decel. i let it idle for about 5 min and it completely stopped and ran fine after that :dunno:

plugs, wires, cap and rotor are all new. as is the O2. runs great otherwise and hasn't done it sense. love intermitent problems. anyone have any ideas?

Bad gas or water in the gas. :dunno:

But you say it runs good now. :thumb:

Long story made short.

I replaced a 350 in a old blazer I had only to find out there was water in the gas.:doah:

oregon has the worst gas in the country. also sucks up alot of water because of the 10% ethanol b.s. they put in there.

oregon ranks #50 for worst gas in america. we placed 49th once since 1979 when they started testing fuel. when other states reject fuel because it wont pass their standards, guess who gets it?

btw, cali and ny have the best fuel.

not true, I wouldn't call 10% ethanol best fuel, and that is what we have, it might be clean, but it still has the ethanol (you can't buy gas with no ethanol here) and it also has MTBE and some other additives.

So is it worth it to run some additive of some kind or should i just deal with it and hope for better next fill up?

Oh I always run additives, mostly to help keep the system clean, not to gain octane, but I also always get the lowest grade gas, because it's the best gas to use in a stock engine.

It is true. Ethanal sucks, but California has the best quality. It has a very short experation date so it doesn't end up with water in it. C.a.r.b makes sure of it. They have Lot more laws on fuel quality and storage practices than anybody else.

I know, and that is what I said, it's clean but full of crap none the less. And we pay for that with higher prices too.:doah:

I'm sure our prices rival yours. I can't believe how expensive it is up here. Lame

No, your prices are cheaper, not by much, maybe the tax difference and then a few cents more.
By the way here prices vary about 70 cents from place to place within one hour drive, and we have plces across from each others with 40cents difference.
example: today in my neighborhood, lowest for regular is $3.98 and highest $4.35, and about an hour away there are some for $4.67
How much is your gas today?

I pay in the $4.40 range...
for regular?
You must be in a big city at the peak of the prices for Oregon.
When I used to deliver in OR, prices were always at least $50 cents cheaper than here.
:dunno:

Sorry, should have mentioned i buy plus...

Also, i try to use shell. Wife and i did some mileage tests (she commutes about 100 miles/day) and we were getting 2-3 more mpgs out o shell gas...

This was in her nissan sentra we had. Now she has a tdi jetta

to get the best mileage, try to use the lowest grade your vehicle can live with.
The misconception is that higher octane gets more power when the reality is the opposite, the higher the octane the lower the energy content.
Most vehicles are built for regular, but some high end performance cars now require higher octane because of the compression ratio.
You can easily pickup another mile per gallon by dropping to lower octane.
