I just spotted this thread, the big silver crewcab I have with the cummins in it had a caddy 500 in it prior to the cummins.
I ran the NV4500 behind it without any problems, the th400 is even easier to do than the nv4500 seeing as the BOPC TH400 bolts right up to the engine.
The truck was stock height with stock sized wheels/tires with the 500 caddy, it also has 4.10 gears so fuel consumption was pretty poor.
the caddy is a bit like the diesel with a lot of low end torque and pretty much done with hp by 4500rpm in the stock or mildly hot-rodded form.
The 12V cummins in there now gets over 20 mpg and will pull vail pass at 75-80 mph.By the time you spend the $$ getting a 500 refreshed a nice low mile 12V could be found.
