Raped my rubber!!!

The interconnected tread in the middle is going to cut traction at least a little, and tread flex as a whole is gonna be pooper

Remeber that green camo military type truck in TTC? Cut his Hawgs like boggers

[/ QUOTE ]I was thinking grooving/cutting the center lugs, and maybe enlarging the center grooves of the outer lugs for alittle more bite. I'm just alitte afraid to do it myself sence I've never done it before. I'd hate too trash a tire that I paid so much for. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

I suppose I'll consider the carpet knife thing. I just don't want my tires to chunk any more than they already are. Rocks sure do tear up tires.

This is what I was thinking. The red lines would be grooved and the white ones would be siped.

Even using mighty RJ thumb slashing power, I was only able to cut 1/4" deep, and though the siped have widened out abit, no chunking on two rock encounters

Nice job on the tires, they look good. Is there ant type of depth control on the groover or is it up to the operator to judge the depth?

Anyone have a link to a decent affordable groover?

Chevron cutting(what tim did) is good for rocks. Allows the tire to form really tightly around a rock. Fourwheeler I believe it was had an article about it and it illustrated that exact pattern forming BIG time around a rock.

Bnd the blade to a big.........

[censored] it I'mma draw a picture

Grind and bend and bolt and tape to a 1x2

Crank it on so its hot but not glowing

Ok, I think I follow your picture. In the center illustration, there are two wires that connect to the ends of the blade, the solid thing in the middle is the board, and the thing sticking up is the blade bent to the shape(width) that I need?

I am thinking of chopping out the Ground Hawg flaw, the big solid center rib.

Tape the [censored] out of the handle BTW, no need for you to boil your own guts

Ya, a roll of tape and thick gloves /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif Thanks for the idea, I'll give it a try.

Get the tires wet. They sipe much easier that way. Roger Brown ("4crawler") did a write-up on siping his Swampers this way.

ok 9i get groveing and i thought i got sipeing but i guess i dont gert it fully what is the benifit if you dont remove the rubber??

it allows water to flow out from under the tread blocks. greatly increases traction in wet conditions.

cant you sipe your tires with a razor blade?? They did this in one of my 4x4 mags, they just cut about 1/4" deep and then drove the truck and they opened up a littl more to create a sipe, groving creates more"lugs" you could say as where siping just creates little slits that give better traction on wet pavement casue they spread out and grip more. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
