Geezuus dude. When I did my 42's, the first one took probably 45 minutes, then after I figured I could heat them with the big ass propane torch, they went about 20 min each for the last 3. Why so long?

The longest part of my grooving is the one you didn't do. Between all the chevrons there is a tie bar. I grooved all of these out and that part was a total pain in the ass.

The rest of it took maybe 45 minutes a tire, like you said.

Maybe my buddy's groover needs new blades too, I don't know, I never asked, I just used it and gave it back.
 
The things you called the "tie" bar are actually the wear bars. I guess grooving them out adds wheelin time to the tire...Don't drive it much on the street though.. /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

[/ QUOTE ]Swamper level of traction ??? I honest belive Ground Hawg's have better traction then certin models of swampers for certin tipes of wheeling. Are they better then Boggers in the mud, not hardly, but they do pretty good in the mud. By the way, I'm not really into rocks. I don't mind the smaller stuff, but once you get into the 3+ rated trails, I'll ride with someone who doesn't mind bashing up thier rig. I'm building more for mud and simple trails.

I have a set of Ground Hawgs with about 1/4 tread left and I grooved the centers like a super swamper and then cut them like Tim's tires. I can honestly say that the tires work far better grooved and with LESS TREAD DEPTH than new with the center in stock form. The Ground Hawgs are a great tire but the center ribbon tread really bites... unless you're using it for a rudder (it does help steer quite a bit in deep, soggy mud.) That's just my opinion though, flame on. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
Do you have a pic of the Hawgs? I want to remove some of my center tread, just looking for ideas... /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

Basicly I just followed the stock pattern which had worn away and added the diagonal cuts like the above TSL's. I used a number five cutting blade on my groover (I think it was a number five?) and went to town. I actually took two cuts in the center treads horizontally to make the void larger between the chevron style lugs. It's very hard to explain but I can't get pictures up since I have no digi camera and no scanner. Sorry, that's all I got. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
