Rarest Suburban ever?

Thanks. I had never seen one branded this way. I knew the 2500LDs existed with the next body style and there were 1500HDs as well, but not during this time frame.
 
AAAAH, the heavy-half diesel suburban. GM built thousands of them. My parents had a 96 slt version. Other then a few things its a 3/4 suburban. It should have a 9.5 sf 14 bolt. I believe the spring rates are a slightly lower rate due to being a "1/2" ton. Most came with 3.42s, some had 3.73. It will have the 4L80 and the non-egr version of the 6.5. If it's in semi-decent condition I would not think twice about buying one. If everything is working right, mainly the trans not slipping, it should easily get in the low 20mpgs on the highway.

I believe the ploy was just to offer a diesel in a half ton family hauler w/o paying for the increase in GVRW. Its amazing to me that for once GM actually felt they should match the components to the motor rather than saying "eh a 10bolt and 4l60 should be fine..."
 
Basically, the 1/2 diesels were 3/4 ton drivetrain on 1/2 ton suspension, and the 3/4 ton diesel was a 1 ton drivetrain on 3/4 ton suspension. My 2500 has a 10.5" 14 bolt full floater and a 9.5" front diff. It rides a little rough, but I love it.
