RC crawler for the family

Axial wraith. I have one. Have beat the crap out of it. Runs at a decent speed, but also crawles well. I also have a xc10 and a slayer 4x4 nitro.

The wraith is the go to for kids to use.

Also they aren’t worth shit used. So that might be a good way in.

I had about $2k into my wraith and sold it for like $500.
Great rig tho. Lots of fun. Built a little mess around trail in m back yard which kept me busy for hours.

Last year for Christmas I picked up a pair of Redcat Everest 7 for my daughter and I. Bought some lipos and we have had a blast. You could probably pick up two for your budget. We have thrashed on them. My cousin who is big into RC says that with RC cars, stuff breaks, and that’s when you upgrade. So far I’ve had to replace all the bearings because we run them in snow, water, mud, at the beach... I’ve also replaced the front axle C’s and knuckles with metal parts. We really romp on ours, and I’m surprised that’s all I’ve had to replace yet. “Family” gift, haha that’s funny.

How much do Redcat Everest 7 cost?

The Redcat Gen7 sport is on eBay for $199 free shipping. Pretty sure that’s just what I paid for it last Christmas.

I have a bunch of losi mini rock crawlers. They are 1:18 scale small enough to build a rock pile in the back yard and have at it.

I like your style....eh

I’ve ran both vaterra and axial crawlers.

I’m quite impressed with how tough my vaterra ascender is out of the box. I ran all stock stuff with the HD plastic drive shafts and upgraded pinion gears in the diffs trouble free for quite some time.

My axial scx10 on the other hand, had to upgrade the trans to steel gears, alum suspension links, c hubs, knuckles, dog bones etc.

I do believe the axial scx10-2 has a handful of upgraded parts on it right off the hop fwiw.

I sent the ascender down a couple hundred foot tumble down a mountainside while on holidays this year. I was expecting the worst when I found it, but surprisingly held up quite well. I was able to bolt it all back together and limp it off the trail under its own power :saweet:

I love my TRX4, but they are expensive if you buy them new. I won mine for a work contest, which is probably the only reason why I would own this one. The Ascender was at the top of my list before I got the TRX4. You can find used TRX4's for the same cost as a new Ascender. The TRX4 is super awesome because portal axles. I wheel the piss out of mine daily, and have only stripped out the "pitman" arm. Selectable lockers and a 2 speed transfercase make it a lot of fun, and still goes pretty fast in 4hi.

For what it's worth, I told him to call you too. :D

We chatted, Looks like some RC's will be going in his way :) he needs some toys. And I need help on my 73 so I can spend more time working on the C10 and Timmy's K5. I started gathering stuff.
