Re-gearing questions

In a month or so, I plan on doing an axle swap, re-gearing, and locker.

I have 33" tires and no lift. I have zero plans on lifting or going to a bigger tire. I am happy where the height is and my K5 does well wheeling.

So for axles, I plan on keeping the front 10 bolt and adding a Lock-Right. For the rear, I am plan on going with a 14 bolt semi-float, 6 lug. Shockingly, Lock-Right's are $400!:eek1: Detroit's are in the $550-600 range. So I think I'll stay open, for now at least.

So have two questions.

I am leaning toward going with Yukon 4.11s. Is that too much gear? Not enough? I will be driving my rig to any wheeling events as well. Also, I prefer trails, mud, and some rock play.

Also, will I need any additional items for the linkage of rear driveshaft to the rear end?

Do you have a 700r4 trans? If so the 4.11 gears would be perfect with 33's.

most will say and i agree lock the rear first. and on a 10 bolt front thats best left open unless aftermarket shafts.

yukon good stuff for the price of it. and 4.10 be good. but overdrive helps a ton.

sbc like to be around 2100-2500 crusing for the average power band. so keep it there.

play with this sweet calc. http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
