Re-restoring the 86....

2 years ago I picked up a 86 to fix up..

went from this

to this after I shot some paint on her, new tires, cowl hood billit grill,interior ect..

then a fire ended all of that..

now currently I plan to fix her back up, my timeline is to have it driving in a week, and finished in a month or two. the blazer now is cleaned up, gutted and rewired with no drive train or much of anything lol, plan to add a grill and cowl hood and repaint it again....


I figured I would post my progress here to keep me motivated, and with so many projects a the same time..ill need it.

i had it finished, I just never put the door panels on...and that makes my life a little easier since they didnt burn up, so I have the whole interior to fix, minus the door panels then

thats a 6inch bds front witha zero rate, and a springer suspension in the rear witgh ford 57inch leaves

flexes pretty nice but the shocks were a limmiting factor..untill they ripped off lol

there was a rubber line leading to the carb for fuel, im "guessing" the line and cracked or split

I had the truck sitting for a while, when I went to drive it it started sputtering and choking like it was starving for fuel...so I pumped the hell out of it to get it going...

then she went up like the 4th of july!

well at the time I wanted more then anything a weenie on a stick, or a fire ext. that worked..because mine didn't

updates

stole the tranny and t-case from my truggy..

then cleaned up and resealed the crate motor, installed, installed front and rear drive lines. New u-joints, water pump, fuel pump, lines run and hoses. Wired motor and alternator and installed surpintene pullies. Installed powersteering pump..tranny cross member..bla bla bla

busy day

tom I need to go pick up some intake gaskets, in stall the intake, distributer, carb wires.. and swap on the right style alternator ect I also need to swap out from a manual steering colum to a auto colum and hook up the linkages..

then drive it..

3 weeks till paint..I hope

a month ago to the day, my blazer got killed too. it should be back mobile, at least enough to make it to the frame shop, by monday. just take your time and do it like you want it... don't settle. if it's not every bit as nice as it was before the fire, you'll never be happy with it. been there, still there. good luck, nice lookin truck

lol, well im not too worried about it looking one way or another. I just want to fix it up and make it nice, when its all done if I have feelings towards it, I will keep it around, but the plan is just to sell it or something when she is all fixed up.

My 75 is my baby, everything else is just another blazer
