As for the wheelbase thing, the only place a Jeep is beter than a blazer is on small tight trails withlots of overhanging trees, and a good bit of trees.Anything else give it to the K5!!!The best thing about the K5 is that all the big axle mods, motor swaps, transfer case changes are mostly all bolt ins.Noting fits a jeep without spending alot on custom stuff,or alot of cuting and welding. And you cant get custom axles at a junk yard out in the sticks!!!
Thats just my opinion.

IF IT AINT BIG IT AINT BAD!!!!!!

i've owned 3 cj's and trust ME!!!!!!!!!.....nothing beats a K5...thats what i have now.....and shall forever own...Jeeps are pieces of trash!....they break ALL of the time......not worth the money.....and just plain crap...i've been there...nothing...i mean NOTHING beats a K5.......my k5 goes anywhere the jeeps will go...and is comfy...air conditioned....big...SAFE...and does'nt wander all over the road, or get pushed around by the wind......i'm geeting mad just thinking about how cheap Jeeps are....better stop now before i break something....K5's RULE....

Obviously you guys are just jealous. Aren't any of you guys running a 258? None of you swapped out your 14 bolt for a AMC 20? What are you thinking? Hmmmm..... If you want a good J##p, here is the recipe. Buy one good J##p tub, throw away rest. Then purchase one Chevy (may be completely rusted out), one Ford (anything not running will do). Now take the motor (preferably a nice 350 but a big 454 will also suffice). This is where you might want to experiment with different tastes, use 700R4 or 465 from GM, or 435 from Ford. Take 205 from either. Use the reverse cut 44 for the front out of the ford and perhaps the 9" for the rear. Throw rest of ford out. If Bold and spicy is your kind discard 9" and 44 for Dana 60 and 14 bolt. Now you may bolt the glass body on either frame, trimming where necessary. Serves 2 passengers and not much trunk space.
Seriously though, a ford or chevy filled jeep is a lot more maneuverable than a Blazer, just a fact. Wheelbase sometimes helps, off camber is much more stable in the K5, and have you ridden in a TJ lately? Whoa! Pretty comfy! Take care guys... Todd

"You're right... I don't understand that Jeep thing!"

Hey Kelboski,I'm not defending jeeps or trying to start anything but I've been out with jeeps alot! There are some places my K5 just dont fit, body rash or not.Its just to big for some trails that I run.I know what your going to say,so go to telleco and follow the jeeps on every tail there and tell me that is still beter at everything.Sometimes size does mater,to much of it.Granted I like driveing the blazer alot better than a jeep,a blazer rides beter, will tow, whatever but its just to big for some trails.Thats why there are so many hybrids in the south east.
Like I said I'm not trying tio afend anyone I'm just being honest about the topic.

Re: Suck it up and take the body damage :)

It takes sack or as Depdog would say "They Clank!" It will fit! the only reason that you say that is a Jeep is narrow in the body. Get a Jeep on big tires the out side to outside of the tire is only a couple inches off depending on wheel offsets.
Seriously the wheel base issue is mute. TJ Wrangle CJ7 only have a 6-10 inch shorter wheelbase. The CJ5 is like 90 inches. A K5 is 105-106. Where they get us is when they are hitting the tires we are hitting the body. Suck it up and a few trees will skinny a K5 right up :) Ben Jordan does. Heck he wan't running a windshield for a while :) http://www.et4wd.com/ enter and find the members section and pick Ben Jordan. They got the site funky and I can't seem to produce a dirrect link. I met this guy in June. Titanic may know him also. WHAT A BEAST!

Re: Suck it up and take the body damage :)

Bigbad82.....sure a jeep can go through bicycle trails....but unless you build it from ground up with good parts, it WILL BREAK ALL OF THE TIME....i've had 3 cj's...trust me...if you want to defend jeeps...you might as well jump on the suzuki defense bandwagon...same type deal. all i am saying is that compared to a K5...jeeps suck. cheap parts...no power...no pull...no room...no ac!....no fun to drive all of the time. i use my k5 for a daily driver, and i did the same with the cj's...i'll gain a little wheelbase, than keep a jeep anyday....no offense taken, and you have the right to your own opinion...but to me,........JEEPS SUCK!!!.......K5 till i die!

Re: Suck it up and take the body damage :)

Hey dont take it the wrong way I love my blazer!!!!But most capable blazers are runing bigger axles also.Your right about the width, the body is the problem.I guess I cant seem to bring myself to want to beat up my blazer's body. Its my baby,it aint the best looking in the world but its pretty rust free for ohio.I put a few nice dents in it at attica,it killed my soul.I thought it wouldnt bother me,but I was wrong!!LOL I guess thats why I think a jeep is beter on tight trails, hell its a jeep who cares what you do to it!!LOL
Happy trails
