Im about to replace the hooptie muffler on my 89 suburban with a stock replacement muffler, Walker 21053 .

I have new 3" exhaust frt to back, just cant deal with flowmaster presently in it.

The new stock muffler, has a short strait peice in center on one end, & other end has offset to side pipe with a small S bend in it so it ends up centered as well, thats about a foot long.

Which end is supposed to be frt (in ), & rear (out)??

cant find a diagram online to see, hoping someone out there still has stocker exhaust on theirs.

I dont know that it really matters, but Id like to do it as it should be.

Thanks, Jeff (Long time lurker, first time poster)

Most mufflers have an arrow stamped in the case , otherwise maybe just set it in there to where the pipes match up to how the old one is .

Yes, this one has no arrows, & present muffler is center center inlet outlet.

Just ran to Parts store, no diagrams.

Thanks agian, Jeff

Poke it on there one way and start it up. Now reverse the muffler and do it again. Which sound do you like best?

Go to Walkers web site and put in the part # and see what they say.

Thanks, I got it that nite. I centered pipe was in, the S shaped one was out.

Thanks for responses.
