Really?? 22k for a chalet??

This rig has been all over the internet the past couple of years. Its one of the cleanest Chalets I,ve seen (I won't say nicest because I hate those 70's color combinations). $22K might be a little pricey for one to go camping with, but this one is clean enough to have some future collectors value.
As the Chalet/Casa Grandes become fewer in numbers its value will appreciate.
Tuck it away for 20 years and $22k might be a bargin.

Why $22K, cause someone might pay that much...but I agree it likely ready for someone's truck or RV musuem. Ugly colors though:)

Kind of like why we have $1 million dollar super cars. Cause some billionaire out there is willing to pay it...

Serial #1385 built 10/76. Actually it's been all over the internet only since July of last year, it just seems a bit longer considering the multiple Craigslist /eBay/dealer/private ads. 4 different owners since then including this one, who also has it on eBay now for the fourth time himself: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300618173288

This time he dropped the starting price down to less than $2000, which may at least allow a better guage of what people are willing to bid on it. His first starting price was $12,500 which got zero bids, the second was the same and got one bid, the third was $5000, which got 4 or 5 bids up to $7600 before the listing was pulled.

My guesstimate for the current value of ones in basically this good of shape is maybe around $10-12 grand. I believe the prior seller was the last one in the line to make a profit on the sale, and this one will be stuck with having paid too much for it.

lol pay 12k and take it to the oil fields!

When I first saw this one listed at Frankman Motors, I called them up to confirm they had bought it from the guy who belonged to our Yahoo Chalet owners forum, which they did. That was the guy who had it on YouTube (vid still works here) for 18 grand. I tried to let this current dealer/seller know that the highest private sale price for these that I could confirm was the $9900 eBay winning bid for #0061 (the orange/tan one here), but that the owner of this one might have broken that record, assuming he paid more than 10 grand for it. The guy only told me he bought it off-auction, and the last eBay bid I saw for it before he bought it in late August 2010 was $10,277.

This current dealer/seller didn't react to well to this reality, said he'd already gotten one offer out of Texas for over 20 grand, plus there were plenty of rich guys in the ND oil fields.........

Out of politeness to this current seller, I won't give away the amount he paid for it - he actually did say what it was, which surprised me - but lets say he's going to have a real uphill struggle on eBay at the rates the bidding is going, just to get reasonably close to breaking even.

I only got $12.500 for this truck with a frame off resto and it was a trophy winner at many shows. Good luck with his Blazer sale cause its only worth what someone is willing to pay!

look at the paint on the door, and look at the hood veiwing on the pass side, all of the trim and grill look like repop stuff, cool truck but not worth 22k, for 22k it better be show quality, probably why they suggest actually using it an oil feild

Entertaining. Somebody asked 5 days ago on Nov 3rd in the questions section way down at the bottom of the listing what the reserve was, and the dealer said $21,500. When you look at the bid history page, yesterday the bidder designated as "n***n" puts in 15 bids to finally knock it over the reserve, but what I'm confused about is how this same guy put in a bid of $9900 on "Nov-03-11 13:11:28 PDT", yet on Nov 5 there were 6 bids put in over a span of 15-ish hours before his bid from 2 days earlier kicked in and topped the others.

What's up with that? I can understand how a hidden high bid amount wouldn't be seen by the others for days until they get outbid, but I'd think it would happen quicker than that.... unless there is some trick to making your eBay high bids appear that I don't know about.

I'd guess the n****n bidder is just the seller trying to up the one legit bidder to see how high he'd go.
$21,500 is stupid high. $10k is reasonable, which is what the nearest other bidder put in.
