Well that is huge motor, but I always like the chance to bag a little /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif
I worked at Cat LEC for a little while. When I was there we put together 6 gensets, tandems. So one motor runs forward and the other backward, both are mounted to a gnerator in the middle. These are 12cyl turbo desiel motors. The bases where right about 22 feet. I designed the bases, cool lines, part of the wiring, and safty equipment. Each genset sold for $1million (x6). They where for a Finland Cruiseliner.
the pictures of that motor show a 10 cylinder version, They make a 14 cyl version of the same, Rated at I believe 102,000 H.P, like 5,000,000 ft Lbs. of torque. they use them on container ships. I read that the solid rocket boosters on the space shuttle are the highest rated prime mover in the world they produce thrust that is equal to 10,000,000 horsepower /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif
Of course due to the design on them, they can't be shut
off till they run out of fuel... Imagine that in your truck
