REALLY STRONG ½TON REAR END?

[ QUOTE ]
I agree, but that doesnt change the answer to the question of how to build a really strong 1/2 ton rear end....

how about the hybred 609 they take a ford nine inch center and use dana 60 outers, strenght of a one ton and clearence of a 1/2 ton, or how about just a plain ole 9 inch ford,

Maybe he should tell us what kinde of vehical this is going on. Ya know a 10-bolt is plenty strong for heeps, yotas, and stripped out blazers.

I cant belive this post came back to haunt me /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif its from a LONG time ago... like confedneck said Im now running a gov-locked 14bolt ff with disks and 6lud adapters... and I dont think I would ever lock a 10bolt and run it on the street (unless you were EASY on it) after i was ridding in confedneck when it EXPLOTED /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I hate when a**hats bring this old stuff back up. But if it's worth anything, the axleshafts for my new 1/2 ton rearend are almost as big as a 14FF, stock /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

well mr bubba ray sister kisser...wtf axle shafts are those? 9" shafts??? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Did you have to bore the axle to run these shafts As previously discussed here /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

The lockrite should be large enough for this application to hold up fairly well - make sure you get one without a Gov-Lock to go this route. Dunno if a spool is available.

/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Stay far, far, away from a gov-lock!!! I had one of those pieces of crap in my '80, and it launched with 31" tires! /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

Why yes Sheepfnneck, I am refering to 9" shafts. I measured them when I pulled them, and they are just slightly smaller than 14FF shafts, yet quite larger than 10 bolt shafts.

Stong very strong almost as tough as a 9" ford but what about the bolt pattern on the wheels /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Actually any half ton dodge back to about 75' or the pre 81' axles had the small bolt pattern ( which may work out if your gonna redrill the holes for 6 lug anyways /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

that would be weird a 5-lug 4x4 blazer ..... not exactly something you see everyday

you also dont always see a sheep head down in a drivers lap in a blazer, but there's bubba ray again..LMAO
