I'm replacing the rear 1/4's on my '90 (severely beat up from the trail, both wheel arches are rusting, and one side had lots of bondo falling out). I cut the complete bedsides off an decent tub, and bascially have them unbolted from the floor and wheelwells, but have not cut/trimmed the B-pillars or rear uprights from it (literally cut the B-pillar above the 1/4, the rocker, and the horizontal rear support).
Should I try to remove just the outer skin on both and replace that?
Or should I replace the entire bedside (inner and outer fenders still attached), where it bolts to the inner wheelwell and floor? Almost seems easier to do this.
This a trail vehicle so I have no desire for anything resembling a show truck. No tailgate or top, so I don't have to worry about those fitting correctly. Will have extensive fender cutting, and probably tubing bent to the shape of the fender opening, and possibly dovetailed. Custom bracing/support for the bedsides is no issue...........doesn't have to look stock, just half-way straight. Doors and front fenders are getting replace also, but those are easy.
