They're not hard to do. But while you're doing them, it would be a safe bet to replace your rear wheel bearings. They can be tricky without a slide hammer... But you can rent one at your local auto zone.. You need to pull the diff cover and the cross pin in the diff, then slide your axles in and remove the c-clips. Once they're out you can pull the axles. The backing plates stay on... The seal is in the end of the axle tube and the bearing is right behind it....
