im ready to try something new and i have the help from someone who has done 4 linked rears in the past before...im just weighing out options here and dont really know alot about this type of suspention..here is the deal

street driven truck (limited)
want a great depature angle
want good flex
wanna get rid of axle wrap

so which way is the best way to go for my application

air shocks
coils and shocks
coilovers

i really dont want to get so soft i have to get into a rear sway bar or anything but if i have to i will...

Your truck is too heavy for air shocks, plus they are finicky anyway.

Coilovers or coils/shocks will work fine for you, each has tons of options for spring rate and damping. The streetability of either setup is really based on the spring rate.

Coils/shocks are the cheaper way to go but they require a lot more time fabricating and experimenting.

Coilovers are much more expensive but have a better end product, most vendors will let you change out springs for free while adjusting ride height (as long as you haven't messed them up) and the packaging for coilovers is much cleaner and more compact.

If you have the coin, get coilovers. You won't regret it.

oh so i have no idea on any of this stuff..preference in coilovers??links??preference in coils springs??anything is appreciated

For the back of your rig, it would really depend on how much the sprung weight end up being, whether you would need 2.0, or 2.5 coilovers. I would think you would probably be fine with a 2.0. We sell both Fox, and Sway-a-way coilovers, and offer a coil spring exchange policy. What questions do you need answered about the links?

as far as the links go..my buddy is prolly gonna make thoose but im not sure yet...here is a pic of the back of the truck...only things changing is a spare, and a 14 bolt

Are you planning on running it empty, or with a full load of gear? Are you going to keep the flatbed?

just a 40 inch spare, cooler, tool box full of tools and straps....i might later do some sort of a roll bar/exo for the rear but thats a while off right now...im more looking at what its gonna take to get my 1 tons in and going

ok ok so 195 bucks a shock aint bad at all....now the question does anyone have a good spring rate calculator...i think the coil over idea seem to be alot of a easier install than going coils and shocks

Don't forget that you have ~$150 a side for coils and you need some way to charge the shocks with nitrogen (also spendy).

We have a coil spring calculator here that we use. We need to get the sprung weight of the rear end to figure out where to put the coils. That is the main reason we do have a coil spring exchange policy, it is hard to get it right the first time. One thing you want to make sure you look at when purchasing your coilovers is not just the price, but the technical assistance, and service after the sale. We sell a ton of coilovers, and are always willing to help out on setting them up.

arent some cars coming with nitrogen in the tires now??my buddy works for lexus and has unlimited suppy to nitrogen but i dont know if its 100% pure

The coilovers will ride much better than the leaf springs, as long as the links are set up correctly, and you have a proper spring rate. As far as the nitrogen for tires, you need to make sure it is 100% pure, and that they can inflate to pressures around 200PSI

dual rate coilovers. for all the added fab work for coils, just go with coilovers. if i ever do it again it would definitely be with coilovers
