I found a Schrader valve hidden near my license plate, it tees off and goes to both rear shocks. the shocks don't show any brand name on them but I'm guessing they are Monroe air shocks...

Does anybody know what PSI these should be at, and do they actually lift the rear a little bit or no? I'm about to put the compressor on the valve right now and check it out

Yes, they will lift, but I wouldn't. In the "olden days", we used them to jack up the back of our cars. But it puts a ton of stress on the shock mounts as they WERE NOT designed to carry the weight!

Last vehicle I had with air shocks was an '82 GMC Cabbalero (El-Camino),and the first time I tried inflating them after I discovered it had them,I got about 50 psi in them before the dry rotted rubber air "bag" exploded..:eek1:..
I was at a gas station at the air pump, several people busted out laughing when they saw the back end of the truck suddenly drop 6"..they thought I was pumping up a low tire and it blew....very embarrassing !..

Thank you for the input, I tried to pump air but no go. I think the whole set up is too old, valve is rusted out.

Haha. If it makes you feel any better, I took my oldsmobile full throttle past a gas station... It sputtered and ran out of gas right as I passed the station about 60 mph. I cruised about four full blocks before I realized what happened. Gas gauge was stuck.

I remember the show off rich kid in high school who's dad bought him a '69 Dodge Charger--he stopped it in front of the school, revved it up to about 6 grand, and dumped the clutch--did a sweet posi burnout for about 100 feet, then the driveshaft came out and he ran it over..:D

The look on the kids face was priceless......followed by :doah:..and .

A cop parked a few hundred feet away witnessed the entire event--he came over and told him to push the car off to the side of the street--then had him get in the cruiser and they drove off..shortly afterwards a wrecker came and towed the Charger away...
