So from the 14 bolt bible we know that there are 3 different 14s the SRW and the CC DRW
14 bolt srw is 67.5"
14 bolt cc drw is 63.5"
14 bolt van 70"
Note I am not including the 88 and newer trucks because, well I don't care.
A 70HD that is found in all DRW fleet side trucks is 73"
by swapping on the hubs of a 14 srw onto a dana 70hd you get a width.

I did find that the 88 and later duallies seem to have a 73 wms 14 bolt.

On a side note to the "buddy", 4.10s are a horrible idea with 39.5s and I would just use spacers.

I can justify spacers because a single 9/16 stud is rated at over 22,000lbs shear strength or 11 tons, so it takes 88 tons to shear the lugs of a 14 bolt. They will be fine and are used by some of the more famous builds on this site.

That is what I am here for, tell you how to do stuff and that you are wrong in the way you think you should do stuff.

I was leaving specifics out so he could see he was wrong and no one would ever be the wiser.

The back story...

My brother has a DRW Dodge 60 under the front of his Suburban. He is trying to match the FRONT WMS of 75" on the rear without the use of spacers.

Being that he is currently running a 350 tbi, and 4.10 gears, I'm sure the spacers would be fine. But my brother is racist towards spacers for some reason.

And power and gear multiplication. That combo with 39.5s wouldn't pull a greased string out of a cats ass.

Sounds like a 70HD would be the winner coming in within an inch of the front. DEEP gear choices for the future too :D

Not to poop in the soup, but I was under the (mis)understanding that the widths of the pickup DRW and the CC DRW were different too???

So another thing I noticed by looking at the heritage pages is the 10,000gvwr trucks (duallys) weren't avalible with g80, well at least in 82-83-84. So I wonder if that is only 70s because I have owned cabchassis 14s and most are g80s.

They are Phil. Duallys are 73" and cc drw are 63.5". I may be wrong but no one has proof that any pre 88 dually ever had a 14 bolt. Note by dually I mean drw with a box.

The closest is srw 14 bolt hubs on a Dana 70 hd dually axle. But that adds 2" on both sides so it will be wider

been running 3" spacers for almost 10 years on my plow truck up here in the crappy north easy .

just basic old ebay spacers no problems.

Yeah I think you're right, I've never seen a pick up dually 70hd with any kind of traction diff (most likely a Power Lock).

I was thinking about spacers, 88 and up 1 tons just use a bolt in spacer for the front wheels on dually trucks. If GM used them I bet the safety factor is like 3.

The GM spacers are too narrow to fit over the 14 bolt hub and require machining. Not opposed to that, just not a lot of machinists here in town.
