A little help...

I was wondering if someone could give me some info on what axles are used on the new GM HD pickups. 14 bolts? Dana 70 or 80's? I would like to use a Dana axle for the rear of my 83' 1 ton. I have an ARB for the front and would like to match up the rear. Can you use the disks in the rear for the older pickups? Has this been done? Any help would be appreciated.

my 2002 2500HD has a 14FF out back

A bit of info the dealer shared with me. The 2500's are the 3/4 ton, as we all know. 14 bolt rear. The 3500's are the 1 ton with a 14 bolt. All the 2002's 1 ton's are duallys. A 2500HD is the same as a 1 ton, except it is a single wheel rear. The dealer didn't really specify anything other than they are the "same." If this started with the 2002 models I'm not sure.

that sounds right, but all of the 2500s iv seen have the 14SF in them. I guess thats why my HD with the FF. Dont know if there is a towing wieght diff or not.

The 2500 (light-duty series) has the FF rear when its optioned with the 6.0L and 5-spd... otherwise they're all semi-floater.

I would hope all the HD's use a full-floater /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

2500HD trucks with the 6.0 l engine get the 10.5" 14 bolt ff. 2500HD trucks with the 8100 or Dmax, and all 3500 trucks get the 11.5" 14 bolt ff. No more Dana rears in GM light trucks.
