EDIT: thread is now about what 2 point seatbelts I should buy, starts on page two.

I am desperately trying to come up with as factory of a rear seatbelt setup as I can get. I found an ebay auction for rear seatbelts listed to fit, jimmy, blazer and suburbans. They are 3 point and retractable. I have 2 kids and one on the way and thought 3 point would be good for car seats etc. Anyhow... I cannot for the life of me conceive of a way these would mount in my truck. The seller told me they believe they came out of a suburban. I messaged them saying they dont seem to fit my truck and requested a refund. They messaged me saying the following:

"these units mount on the rear quarter panel in back of the wheel well. The slip bracket mounts above the rear side window and the bolt end to the floor by the seat. This is used on Blazers, Jimmys and Suburbans. "

Ive got nothing that these would mount to in the rear quarter panel of my truck. There are no bolts or holes for a bolt to go (aside from where the factory spare tire carrier would go.) I also have no interior panels in the back but I would presume you couldnt just bolt the retractable section to plastic/molded interior panels. Right?
Im guessing these mount up similar to how the front seat belts mount? Ive looked everywhere for an interior picture and I cant find anything out there. Surely to goodness someone here knows if they will indeed work or not.

Here is the auction

This is the only picture i could find online of how these might mount in a suburban.

i don't think blazers ever came with 3 point seatbelts in the back. the fiberglass top prevents them from working.

according to LMC, only suburbans came with 3 point seat belts in the back.

My top has holes in it for what I presume are for 3 point seat belts.
Ill get some pics. brb

did some more digging, i stand corrected, 89-91 k5's had some three point belts:

looks like a big reclining mechanism bolts up there, probably through both bolt holes.

okay, so we arent crazy.
also i see in the picture you linked what the two forward bolts are for, its a grab handle. Now how on earth will i get them to bolt up there.
this is the inside of the retractable part. to me it would see you take the plastic piece off and put two bolts through those large circles and mount it wherever, right?

after looking at your picture and comparing it to the part i have there is not way this is intended to work with a blazer. I think the blazer used a much smaller retractable part that was one bolt mounted. I think im going to pursue a refund.

My '90 K5 had factory 3 point belts in the rear with the ratchet assembly attaching to the top, just like the above pictures shows. If you want factory style 3 point belts in the back of an older K5 you will need to get a newer style top.

I wound up chopping up my old top in order to get rid of it (nobody would even take if for free) and it had a lot of metal reinforcement inside the fiberglass. Not sure if there is more metal in it because of the seatbelts, but in any case I was surprised of what it looked like inside once I started chopping.

which picture? the decked out show blazer or on of the pictures i posted?
cant chop the top and Ill never find a different top here for it. ill have to go 2 point first.
what is wrong with my top? it seems like it is setup for 3 point seats..

The pictures in post #4 show what I believe are the mounting locations for factory seatbelts. These are the ones to the rear of the cargo light. Didn't pay close enough attention to see that those pictures were of your rig.

Alright, sending these ebay ones back they agreed to refund.

so if I buy these should they work as two points in my truck letting me bolt the retractable section in the seat and the other to the floor in stock locations? or is there another set you guys would suggest to fit as bolt in as humanly possible?

Crud, lost my response.

Can you not just go with an earlier seat/belt ends? I've used a car seat with the rear 2 points, the center position is the only one I trust, and is still difficult to use due to the buckle ends hitting the seat, but it works.

I'd be wary of trusting the shoulder position in the topper at this stage (the metal seems to rot pretty bad up there) and I'd make sure if adding something, that I made the anchor point solid.

See my post just above this one. Would those suffice?

I suppose they could, but you'd have to mount the retractor part on the floor behind the seat somehow.

Any reason not to go with the earlier style seat and belt ends? They are pretty easy to find.

Why? they retractor on my current belts is bolted in the seat. I figure I could just swap them out. If I could find the male ends that bolt to the floor on each side id be done. But they are ultra rare anymore apparently.
I have one junk yard around here and he said he didnt have any blazers there. they (yards and trucks) are all more or less gone now.

something like this looks like it would work as well.

I went out and removed the passenger side rear retractor that is attached to my seat. Basically it is the same as what i pictured above but with an angled bracket attached to it so it bolts to the seat. my truly best bet is just to find some of those male ends that bolt to the floor and be done.

Yeah, almost looks like you could remove the stock bracket piece and retrofit, but I suspect once you have both of them in hand, you'll find the pieces aren't interchangeable. Could be wrong, but it's very unlikely what GM used is "universal".

I honestly don't know how the 3 point system is setup, the lap portion retractor is the female end, the one bolted to the wheelwell has no retractor?

For 3 point I'd have to replace it all. Lap belts to non retractable and all that. I've got one guy who might sell me his whole rear belt set. Waiting on a confirmation.
Never dreamed I would buy a truck with no seatbelts.

Side lap belts are retractable on the earlier trucks (center is not), at least the '80's ones. As far as I see it, just grab the older seat (if needed, I don't understand how the 3 point seats were setup) and the belt ends from the wheelwells of the same rig and be done with it.

All I'm missing from my truck is the male ends that that bolt to the floor. Everything else I've got for a 2 point setup.
