Rear brakes?

Yes there can. But should there be? HELL NO! Red shouldn't be there, unless it's Red Line Synthetic oil. The heavy shock proof is the only red oil I've used or seen for a Diff.. It's pretty thick.

Here, is so called "transmission oil", or "differential oil", is a special fluid, for axles, or MT, but, usually, is green, or brown. Red oils, usually, are for AT, or for steering.

Yep, same here. There's a brand of oil here, called "Red Line", which is the fancy synthetic stuff ... and might be colored red even though it's gear oil.

But yeah, that's bad. :eek1: Somebody did something clever to your truck :doah:

'Sokay, gear oil is cheap ... take the cover off, drain it, clean it with brake cleaner or carburetor cleaner or something, and refill it with *gear* oil :D

I was looking for capacities (oils, cooling), I found it, but is not in liters!:doah: They have shortcuts, like "qts" and "pts"!:confused: I don't know what means and the value, in liters... Please, help!!!
 
I find the right convertor! But I have another question: transfer case, get more ATF (10 pts) and the gear box, less ATF (9 pts)???
I found this values:
- engine with oil filter - 7 qts
- gear box auto - 9 pts
- transfer case - 10 pts
- front axle - 4 pts
- rear axle 9.5" - 6.5 pts
- cooling system - 25 qts
- fuel tank - 27 gal (32 gal. or 41 gal. option)
What do you think?
 
That auto tranny spec is probably for a standard fluid change, where you just drop the pan. You don't lose nearly as much fluid as it actually holds that way.

I didn't haev time to look at the pix, but by chance, is the area around the steering box messed up? :)

It happens, to all these trucks.

At the least the bolt-in kit is a must-have to keep things in order. If the frame is really messed up, you may need the weld-in kit to fix it.

I looking into the glove box, and... I find 5 rows, with "n" codes!!! How will I know wich one is??? I check the end ratio - counting rotations, not teeths and is around 3.70... "G80" is for what?:confused:
 
The "N" codes...are they 4 digits? RPO's are 3 digits, but at some point or some cases, GM started adding a digit in front of the 3 you really care about. Look for any that have a 3 digit sequence starting with "G". The G codes are all axle related. Another example like G80, would be GU1, etc.

In your case, maybe you're looking for something like "NGU1".
 
The codes, are ONLY with 3 digits! Like G80, or GU1... but there are around 60 codes! How will I know wich one, is for my truck? The right code, have a sign, or something?

I suppose you can't post pictures here, maybe get a picture of your sticker and post it on a website you can link to? I don't know of a sticker online I can just show a picture of.

I *think* maybe there is some confusion on what to look for, but it should be pretty obvious...there will be codes starting with J, F, G, and so on, (pretty much any letter in the alphabet) but they should be alphabetical. ALL those codes on THAT sticker are "options" that your truck had from the factory...don't worry about which ones are for your truck, they all are! Some of them weren't really options, but came with a truck with certain engines, transmissions, etc. Nonetheless, it helped the dealer with parts and what not when a truck needed something. All GM vehicles have the stickers, that I'm aware of. (within reasonable time frames of course)
