Finished installing the shackle flip and the lift, now I need to get a rear CV put on the blazer. But the guy that is going to do it says that I need to grease the CV once a week if I want the joint to last. Is this BS, or does he not know what he is talking about? The rear lift is ~4" with 3" TC springs in the front. And I already tried the shims, took away some of the vibes but not all of it.

How, exactly, do you grease it? Are we talking just the u-joints or the centering ball.

U-joints no problem, mine have fittings and I grease it every oil change, not every week.

I see no way to grease the centering ball though.

On that same note, my front d-shaft with it's original CV (technically it's called a double cardan joint) is doing just fine with over 100k miles on it. With some good 4x4 use under its belt lately. So, unless your d-shaft builder can be more specific... :dunno:

Yup, he was talking about the centering ball, thats what I asked him too. Will get more info later this week when I take it over there. And good idea about the front drive shaft, will bring that up to him also.

Bull. The centering ball is just a ball socket with a spring in it. The range of motion it sees during normal driving is nothing.
