Im slowly collecting the parts I need to rebuild my axles. I found a decent price for the gear set I need for the front axle. Dodge Kingpin Dana 60. But, the ad says it is for a rear dana 60 axle.

Everything I have read says that the parts are interchangeable between front and rear. Is this still true for the ring and pinion? If so, why would this be advertised as a rear set?

Also, opinion on USA standard gear? Strong enough for some good wheelin'?

Yes it’s the same for low pinion 60s. The only difference in gears is high and low pinion. Those are standard and reverse cut gears. All low pinion are standard cut. They probably market them as rear gears because some fronts are high pinion and reverse cut.

USA standard is the house brand of Yukon. If the gear doesn’t meet quality control of Yukon, they sell it as USA standard. They are the only gears I’ve ever installed or ran.

Thanks man. I've been racking my brain trying to think what would be different about front and rear. Completely forgot about the High pinion variants.

Parts will be at my doorstep by the time I get home.

Treefarm is dead on, I’ve run gears from the rear of a drag race car in my front 60.
