So why did Ford have to go and change their wheel pattern for 8 lug?
I found a couple of really nice rear D70 and D80 disc brake setups I could get for $100 out the door, but the 70's are 8x170 and the D80 is a 10 lug.
I am thinking about getting it for my trailer, I can get it with wheels.:dunno:
If I could fine a dodge or chevy with rear disc.
These ford axles have the small drum inside for ebrake.:thumb:

It seems to me that everytime an engineer has a goo design idea, they can't help but do something stupid to screw something else up!!! I hope I don't offend anyone on here with that, but if they are on this forum, I bet they have their s**t toghether!!

I'm sure there's an engineering reason but having an odd pattern forces the consumer to buy accessories and replacement parts from the dealer for a couple of years.

Don't forget the also did the ghey 7 lug on the light duty trucks too.

Kind of related, but GM just changed their 8 lug pattern on their duallys, not sure about the SRW trucks, but no longer 8 x 6.5

Now its like 8x 200 mm or 220 mm,

You'd have to be crazy to use Ford axles on a K5 project.... :)

Not when it's a D70 or D80, and it's not on a K5 but a CC.
I even thought about using it on a Trailer that I am building from the bed that was on Ryoken's truck, that probably will be the first build thread I will have.
Trying to do a hydraulic braked trailer. Not sure if I want to go electric over hydro or just surge hydro.:dunno:
I might end up getting the BIG medium duty Eaton axle I found for this project, it's a 10 lug and still has the wheels on it.

Iceman,

I was just trying to make a joke..... Remember, I've got Ford axles going on my project as well. :)

Yeah I decided it's not time yet for these axles, I will eventually find some from a GM with discs.
In the meantime I found a D70HD that I will put in my trailer builds, it will go on 19.5" wheels.
As soon as I have all the parts ready I will start a build thread on that.:thumb:
