hey im getting ready to put rear disc brakes on my 14bolt FF and i was wondering if anyone has used virgina 4x4 rear disc conversion brackets and how did you like them

Do you already have them? I did mine a few weeks ago using ORD's brackets. TOP quality. no issues with fitment, alignment of bolt holes, or brake caliper pin/bolts. I bought their braided lines. all the way down from the body hard line and out to the calipers. Don't forget to buy hub seals, and have caliper mounting pins/bolts. The studs come out of the hub easily with an air hammer or a BFH and a brass drift. Make sure the rotors have a recess for the studs is what I was told and my rotors from Pep Boys had them.

DIY4x brackets! They all generally cost the same, but I like the additional support at the offset so no shims are needed. Excellent product and I love supporting the small shops.

Went with TSM myself and everything fit perfectly. One thing I would do differently is to have a shop press in my studs. I pounded them in and then used an impact wrench with a bunch of washers and a large nut to snug them but it took forever and probably beat on the studs more than I would have liked. In retrospect I would just have taken the disks down to a shop and had it done.

ok the reason i was wanting to get virgina4x4 brackets is because i have a axle out off a 1999 3500 van and they are the only ones that say there brackets fit axles up to 2000, ive looked at all the brackets from diy4x and ord but i wasent for sure if they would fit my axle. any idea if they would?

14ff rear axle has 2 diffrent setups for brakes.

old style is bearing hub and drum all 1 unit.

newer is drum can slide off bearing hub unit.

if you have the older then all most all the kits will work.

and if newer style you need the newer style kits. and no you cant swap the older on the newer axle. diffrent spindle spacing for the bearings . i found out the hard way. :doah:

and you can get old or new up to the 2000 range. so you need to actualy go check.

ok thanks for the info i was wondering about the years on those axles and how there diffrent, do you know anywhere that sells the newer style brackets

basicly the big name brand places . there was a guy i prototyped one and he started selling. then he up and vanished and havent seen or heard from him since. dont have the truck or brackets anymore also.

shew i wish i had the older stlye those kits are cheaper than these ones, i guess ill run drums till i save some more money

if me sell that axle and find a older one. sorry to say.

on a regular vehicle its so nice to pop off just the drum. but in our little world it realy sucks for disk conversion needs/price.
