Is there any difference in using 1/2 ton or 3/4 calipers when doing a rear disc swap? I know the calipers are slightly different, but they both use the same pad (Bendix D52) and the mount holes have the same spread. Anyone know if the engagement on the rotor is different?

If the same brackets fit the 3/4 ton and Eldo calipers and get good pad to rotor engagement, the 1/2 tons should work too, right?

New question, post 5

It is rumored that there is supposedly a 3/4 ton caliper that is different from a 1/2 ton but we don't have any listing to verify this. There are different part numbers though but that's the difference between banjo bolt size. At any rate, any GM front caliper will work or the 76-78 caddy Eldo caliper to retain e-brake capability.

Buddies got a 2wd heavy 3/4 ton 1973 that didn't take standard front calipers/rotors. I believe napaonline backs that up.

Yeah, there is an odd HD caliper but it is not the one that your average swap bracket is made for.

Napa and the 'Zone both list it.

Got another question. If anyone on here has used DIY4x4 brackets or if you just got some plain ones from A-A or some where, how far from the old flange did you weld on the bracket? Or is it just mock it up weld it on where the caliper sits properly on the rotor?

Using flat brackets there is a 7/8" thick spacer between the axle flange that the backing plate bolted to and the disc bracket.

Sorry, forgot to say this is on a D70 rear not a 14B. It's a good sized gap.
