Slowly (very slowly) moving thru a 350-to-6.2 swap here... going to pick up a rebuilt hydrobooster shortly to replace the vacuum booster. I understand my brand-new MC from the vacuum booster won't work with hydroboost. Upgraded to rear discs a while back. So if I need a new master cylinder again, figured I might as well get one that's made to work with discs at both axles.

So are there any known options here for an MC that will work with rear discs, hydrobooster, and preferably my 1990 RWABS as well?

ur looking at gathering info on the stroke length, bore, line out size, etc. Seems like a tough search. Good luck and post the findings. All I know is the newer diesels have 4wdb. I wouldn't be concerned with the abs in the rear. Actually, I'm surprised there's abs in the rear, not maybe vehicles (even newer cars) have abs in the rear.

Um, I was asking if anyone had already done the research, or knew someone who did :D

Might wanna brush up on your abs info too. It started showing up on the rear axle in the late 80's/early 90's first, cuz that's the one that tries to pass you when it locks up, as opposed to the front merely plowing straight ahead. And as far as I know 4 wheel ABS is pretty much standard now adays, probably even mandated by now.

Use a 1979 corvette MC, might be a little soft but it will get you stopped in a short distance.

You will get a lot of suggestions. But there are so many different bore/stroke options out there it's crazy. A lot of things that work for some, well... Anyway, if you can get the year your hydroboost setup is, or any measurement, I think that would help greatly. I have a newer MC for my rear disc swap, but I don't think it was for hydroboost also. This was from a '99 3500 non-diesel. :(

PS> Just seems not that many vehicles have rear abs. Not arguing that urs doesn't,just saying my '01 s10, '99 Infinity, '97 chevy 1ton, '06 ranger, '94 z71 (i think), '85 blazer, '89 Olds "eighty-eight royal" don't have rear abs. Thats what I know for sure. But there are a lot of new cars (toyotas, hondas, domestic) that don't have rear abs (especially the ones with rear drums) because it's only important the turning wheels continue turning while braking, otherwise you can't turn.:waytogo:

PS2> Hope someone can help, it's always easiest with help. But if you find anything on your own, even inside CK5, post up to help make sense for anyone else.:D

First of all it was rear ALB anti lock brakes.
It was nothing like the ABS of today.
And as for the MC, there is a thread about that, I think the MC you need is out of a P30 van.
I had that thread saved somewhere, it did pop up about a month or so ago so it should be easy to find.

That is the MC you want:

Cool, thanx for the info guys, digested & bookmarked. Managed to find the discussion
thread on that MC too.

sixb: Thanx for the offer, but anything brake-related I'm keeping new on this rig. As it is the booster is the only that I haven't replaced yet.

My '90 K5 is factory 6.2 and am running the original brake booster and MC. With the D60 front and disc brake 14FF rear (using the typical 3/4 ton parts) it seems to work really well.

To address some other comments, rear wheel ABS was very common on most trucks back in the late 80's and early 90's . My '90 had rear wheel ABS from the factory, and so did my dad's '88 C1500.

i am working on this now and was givent the info to use a mastercylinder from a 67-72 Corvett and the proporting valve that is from pure choice motorsports in Lake Havasu AZ I just ordered both parts today and will see what i can come up with

Just to throw my 2 cents in here, I am using the stock booster and MC on my '89 6.2l with discs in the rear and they work real well.
