How Noob is it to buy one without knowing what length you need? Found a used nice aftermarket for a good price. I know they can be shortened. My build isn't near enough finished to measure an exact length.

It will go on a Blazer, 205 SYE, 700r4, stock springs, 4" shackle flip, and a 1" zero rate to move the 14 bolt back 1".

What's the going rate to have shaft shortened & rebalanced anyway? How much travel should I look for?

I figure lengthing would eat up the "bargain" aspect as the whole tube is replaced right?

:o:o

My drive shaft guy re-tubed an excursion shaft for me =7" of slip and has 1410 joints.

the travel depends on what your intended use is/ suspension setup.

i just called on this about 2 days ago. to shorten a K30 driveshaft down, without replacing ujoints and ballancing it $78

Too much variance to say huh?:( The shaft is 42" which I'm getting confirmed is the collapsed length. The seller is supposed to get back to me with a collapsed & extended length. I'll probably have to pass but I thought I might as well as ask.
