Rear drum help

Ok folks.

Either the rear drum brakes grenaded, or my 12bolt is dying, will find out tomorrow. Either way, I need to figure out how the heck to get shoes for the bastard. It's stuffed under a 1990 burb. Different shoes from a 10 bolt, but maybe they swapped backing plates and everything when they put the 12bolt in, and re-used the 10bolt stuff. How to check, how do I tell? How do I find shoes? Thanks!

measure drum dia . . . 10" or 11" or what ever it is.

then shoe width 2.0" or 2.25" or 2.50" or what ever it is.

then go to the parts store and look for 10 bolt or 12 axled vehicle and pull the part #'s and check.

but have heard of guys swapin backing plate out as its basic bolt on swap.

and 12 bolts 80 n older basicly.

I swapped my brakes onto the 12 bolt when i broke my last 10 bolt

the year is what i really needed, thanks!

going to pull the wheels and drums off tomorrow AM and see, then i can take the old shoes with me, now that i know what year to pull for if the 90burb shoes don't match what's on it!

edit: just got an email on fb back from the guy who owned it before the guy i got it from, and said it's all 12 bolt, from an 84 pickup... wtf?

I have an 84 half ton pickup with a 12 in the back and a 10 in front,made me go wtf

aight, so it's got 12bolt brakes. 2 3/4 wide. autozone has the shoes and hardware in stock and waiting on the counter for me... i think i might buy too much crap from them lol.

fixed it
