Good morning all. Ill be putting my "new" 12-bolt in this weekend. The drums cant be turned due to wear, and new ones are 86 each. Will my 10-bolt drums fit? Thanks

They should be the same I believe the only difference is in the axle shafts, anyone wanna back me up?

There were at least two different rear brake setups. I swapped a 12 in for my my stock 10 and the brakes were different. The 12 was from a 1978 and had the smaller drums and the 10 was from a 1987 and had much larger drums. I swapped the entire brake system from the 10 to the 12. I pulled the axles and switched the backing plates. Everything bolted up just fine.

If the drums *look* the same then I would say they will work. The two I had were very different looking.

Thanks, I should know soon enough. Man I cant wait to see the difference in 2.73s and 3.73s!!! I know I will be much happier

yep, i put the old drums off my 87's 10 bolt onto my 79's 12 bolt diff that i put under the truck, and all the brake parts, less backing plates, left those on, and everything fit great /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif.
