i just finished putting my rear dana 60 into my 86 gmc and i drive down to the gas station and i hear alittle bit of a  whining noise coming from the back so i let off the gas and it goes away, so do yall think it needs rebuilt cause if it does i have a sf 14bolt with same gears should i just go ahead and swap the dana out for the 14 bolt has any body had any luck with a sf 14bolt i don't rock crawl but i love mud:D

and also i can get a 91 3/4 ton suburban with a 14bolt ff for $200 with matching front end with 3.73 gears, would i be better off buying the suburban for the axles

Sounds like the gears aren't setup right and/or the bearings are toast and are causing poor gear contact.

Both the SF and FF 14 bolt will be significant strength upgrades over the 60.

i agree with ^, something isnt set up right. I would deffinetly try and get the 14 ff and 8 lug front.

well iv already got the 8 lug 10 bolt under the front, im going to go ahead and yank the dana 60 out of the rear and put the 14 bolt sf under it and while im at it im going to put disk brakes on it
