when i take off too quick in mud but especially on hard surface feels like my rear end is coming out from under me.i read somewhere and cant find what its called or if there is a cure for it.i have an '87 k-5 and right now this is my only problem, any help?

Get under it and look for broken or loose parts. Or have some one watch for the problem when you take off. Does it feel like it drops down in the rear when you take off? Does it make a popping noise?

If there is nothing broken, you are more than likely experiencing a bad case of axle wrap.

Usually happens when you have lift blocks. The force of the axle rotating is transferred to the springs which makes them twist in a slight S shape, this can snap back to normal then to the S shape several times. In really bad cases it can feel like the axle is coming out from under the truck.

First check for broken or loose suspension components

axle wrap is the term i was looking for.i do not have blocks i am all stock.it appears nothing is broken or out of place it feels like the rear end is twisting with a clunking sound if that makes sense

You should not have very bad axle wrap stock, clunking can mean a loose pinion bearing. It can mean a bad u joint, it can mean a bad t-case or trans mount, broken ring and pinion, etc.

You more than likely have something wrong.

Do you have some beasty motor in it?
