Guys this is a look in my 1987 GMC Jimmy. What kind of diff is this? What type of fluid do I need to use? Any additives required?

On another note I am pretty sure those pinion teeth marks are not supposed to be there. It must have failed at one time and someone rebuilt it with the old parts....

Gov lock looks like that has had a beating at one time from hell.

I am also not sure that it is a gov lock as it does not have the tumblers etc that I am used to seeing in the gov lock. Is this an older version? It looks more like a eaton G80

might be can tell you it's not a old school posi unit like late 60's. Fluid unsure have all data at work spoiled by it.

NOT a gov loc unit .

old school original style posi unit . you can still get them new .

yes = pinion has walked out BAD at some point and damaged that carrier .

if me I would not trust that setup .

NOT a gov loc unit .

old school original style posi unit . you can still get them new .

reg old gear oil and a bottle or friction modifier to add with it .

never noticed third spring always been 2 and 2
