Guys this is a look in my 1987 GMC Jimmy. What kind of diff is this? What type of fluid do I need to use? Any additives required?

On another note I am pretty sure those pinion teeth marks are not supposed to be there. It must have failed at one time and someone rebuilt it with the old parts....

I bet that made a stomach churning noise at some point. Wow.

I am also not sure that it is a gov lock as it does not have the tumblers etc that I am used to seeing in the gov lock. Is this an older version? It looks more like a eaton G80

might be can tell you it's not a old school posi unit like late 60's. Fluid unsure have all data at work :D spoiled by it.

NOT a gov loc unit .

old school original style posi unit . you can still get them new .

yes = pinion has walked out BAD at some point and damaged that carrier .

if me I would not trust that setup .

Does not look like either of the 2 older posi I have had out before or my Yukon in my Chevelle.
