I pulled the carpet out of cargo area and noticed that part of the floor is rusted out. I'm going to cut out the bad spots and weld in repair panel. Is it safe to use a cut off wheel and welder this close to the fuel tank? The section of floor that needs to be replace is in the driver's side rear corner near the tail pan.

Thanks,
Ray

It is as long as you dont have any leaks in you gas tank or lines. I have welded all around mine and havent exploded yet.

You should be fine. Take a look at gap between the gas tank and the floor board, and be careful with the cutoff wheel. Keep a fire extinguisher close for the just in case.
