The rear floor on my 87 K5 is in need of some attention. I would love to buy a full floor, but it looks like they're unavailable for my year. Has anyone tried to use a short bed truck floor and make it work? Do I have any other options other than piecing one together with the available patches?

Yeah , man you could make it work. But it would be more expensive to buy a whole floor section , and cut it /weld it to fit . You would be better off to just get the patch panels you need and cut out the rust holes and weld yer patch panels in. As far as other options, I have seen people make their own floor boards out of heavier guage steel ,and these people were not worried about keeping the OEM look , as the rest of their rigs were highly modified............So not being able to see the 87, how rusty it is Iwould recommend you just using patch panels if it's just the very back part by the tailgate/wheelwells .
