Hi - Looking for some helpful hints for cleaning the back window of a 1991 Jimmy. The glass is factory and has the perforated security screen applied to the inside. I can never seem to get the inside of the glass clean, no matter what I use. There is grime and it's a little cloudy. Does anyone know what would be good to use on the inside, where perferated screen is applied. Also, it fair to say that becasue ofthis screen, the window cannot be tinted.

Thanks

Is there any chance that your inner or outer window seal has some sort of lubricant on it that gets the window dirty every time it goes down, or is it actually the "finish" on the glass?

I *think* GM calls that stuff tint, but I suppose you could scrape it off with a razor blade and tint the window conventionally. Living in Virginia where tint actually serves a purpose, you (hopefully) don't see poor tint jobs, but you'd obviously need a good one on the rear window since it moves.

I'm guessing your problem lies more with the fact the window moves and pushes crud, lube, or goo into the perforations. The perforations themselves I think would have a tendency to hold airborne particles even if you don't open & close the window.

So remove the screen and replace it with tint so the tinting will be scratched by opening & closing:mad:

The best solution would be to find a window where the tint is sandwiched in the glass, which, of course, I don't think is made:mad:

I have heard if you go the tint route that 3M makes the toughest stuff though.
